The Science

the science of purple, made simple.

No chemistry degree required. Two things happen every time a strip goes on: purple pigment cancels yellow tones on contact, pure color theory, while PAP whitens for real, without peroxide, in 30 minutes a day.

The core mechanism

How yellow actually disappears

Two mechanisms share every strip. One is optics, instant. One is chemistry, cumulative. Here's each, in plain English.

Warm yellow staining settled into tooth enamel
Step 01

Why teeth yellow

Coffee, wine, tea and time leave pigment molecules lodged in the microscopic pores of your enamel. As enamel thins, the naturally yellow dentin underneath begins to show through, so teeth read dull even when they're clean.

YELLOW VIOLET DIRECTLY OPPOSITE
Step 02

Purple cancels yellow

Purple sits directly opposite yellow on the color wheel. The strip's purple pigment settles over yellow tones and optically neutralizes them on contact. It's the same color-correction trick stylists use on brassy hair.

Stain molecules lifting away from clean enamel
Step 03

PAP breaks stains apart

While the purple works, PAP (phthalimidoperoxycaproic acid) oxidizes stain molecules into smaller, colorless fragments. The same reaction peroxide performs, minus the free radicals that cause sensitivity.

What's in a strip, and why

Every layer has a scientific job

Clear PAP whitening gel in a glass petri dish
PAP Whitening Active
Oxidizes stain molecules into colorless fragments: peroxide's results without peroxide's free radicals, so there's no sting.
Deep violet PurpleCorrect pigment swirling in a petri dish
PurpleCorrect™ Pigment
Purple is yellow's complement on the color wheel, so it optically neutralizes yellow tones on contact, from the very first treatment.
Macro of the strip's textured no-slip grip surface
No-Slip Strip Film
Holds the actives flush against your smile for the full 30 minutes. No trays, no gel, no device, no rinsing mess.
Pristine white tooth with a water droplet on the enamel
Gentle Comfort Base
Peroxide-free and kind to enamel and gums, so there's zero sensitivity across all 14 treatments.

Straight answers

The things people actually ask

Does PAP really whiten, or is it just the purple?
Both, and they're separate. PAP whitens by oxidation, not abrasion. It lifts color out of the enamel's pores rather than scrubbing the surface. The purple is optical and instant; PAP is chemical and cumulative.
Will my teeth look purple?
No. The pigment is tuned so that when it settles over yellow tones it optically neutralizes them, so the eye reads the surface as whiter. It leaves no cast of its own.
Is this as strong as what a dentist uses?
Honestly, no, and it isn't meant to be. In-office peroxide runs strongest, but commonly brings sensitivity, and costs $500–$800 per visit. This is the calmer route you can actually finish.
Will it whiten veneers or crowns?
No, and that's true of every whitening product. Only natural teeth whiten. Veneers, crowns, bonding and fillings will not change color.
